When Artistry Film needed a reliable production partner to bring Battlefield Studios' latest campaign to life, they turned to Black Box. This ambitious project introduced the world to Battlefield Studios — a newly unified global team dedicated to shaping the future of the Battlefield franchise. With four studios across the globe combining 20+ years of Battlefield expertise with emerging creative talent, the campaign highlights their mission to deliver groundbreaking experiences for players worldwide.

At Black Box, we were proud to play a vital role in the Montreal portion of this global production, ensuring that everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

How Black Box Supported the Montreal Production

When Artistry Film approached us, their goal was to execute a high-quality shoot in Montreal that would match footage captured in other international locations. Our role was to provide the crew, equipment, and logistics to make that happen seamlessly.

We assembled a team of experienced local professionals, including a Gaffer, 1st AC (Assistant Camera), Sound Technician, Makeup Artist, and Production Assistant. Beyond staffing, we sourced and coordinated essential equipment — camera rentals featuring the Alexa Mini with Cooke Speed Panchro lenses — along with grip, lighting, and truck rentals.

Collaborating with Industry-Leading Talent

One of the most exciting aspects of this project was working alongside Fredrik Bäckar, the Director of Photography. Bäckar is best known for his work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with David Fincher and the iconic Philips Carousel commercial — a groundbreaking piece that set new standards for technical achievement and visual storytelling.

Having long admired his work, it was a privilege to support a production where he was leading the cinematography. His attention to detail and technical precision required a high level of coordination, and we ensured every aspect of the shoot in Montreal aligned with his vision.

Consistency Across Global Locations

This production spanned multiple cities, including Montreal, Los Angeles, England, and Sweden, which meant maintaining visual consistency was essential. Our team worked closely with Artistry Film to source matching camera and lens packages to ensure a seamless visual narrative across all filming locations.

The shoot utilized advanced lighting setups, including a Light Mat Spectrum, Aputure 600C Pro, and extensive negative fill to shape the cinematic look. Despite the logistical challenges of coordinating production across continents and timezones, our detailed preparation ensured a smooth and efficient execution in Montreal.
